On Tuesday May 5, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. in the Village Hall Council Chambers a public hearing will be held to discuss and receive public comment on the Touhy Avenue pedestrian/bicycle overpass project. In 2009 the Village received a Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) grant to install a bike path along the Com Ed ROW that will span from Devon Avenue to the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Jarvis Avenue. Construction on the bike path is anticipated to begin in the fall of 2015. In 2013, the Village received a CMAQ grant to install a pedestrian/bicycle overpass on Touhy Avenue which will allow pedestrians and cyclists to safely navigate over Touhy Avenue from the Village’s planned bike path. Please click here to view renderings of the proposed bridge.
On April 29, July 8, and October 14 of 2014, the Village held public meetings regarding this project. Please click here to view videos from the previous public meetings (click on the Special Events and PSAs tab).
Beginning on Monday, April 20, all traffic on Crawford Avenue will be diverted to the east side of the street with one travel lane in each direction between Touhy Avenue and Devon Avenue. This traffic pattern will remain in effect until the expected project completion date in mid-August. For more information, please see the attached press release.
