Prevent Car Burglaries and Vehicle Theft

Lincolnwood’s Police Department would like to remind residents to be vigilant with protecting their vehicles from being burglarized. Avoid being a victim of opportunity with these helpful tips:

  • Lock your vehicle doors
  • Remove your car fobs from your cars
  • Remove all of your valuables from your car every night
  • Double check if you locked your vehicle doors

Shots Fired Incident

Lincolnwood Police on September 14, 2018 at approximately 2:18 a.m. responded to a call of shots fired in the area of 6500 N. Monticello Avenue. Police arrived on scene and learned a resident was awoken by the noise of several individuals in front of his home. The caller had attempted to draw the attention of the individuals by tapping on the window and at that time, two gunshots were heard.  The subjects then successfully fled the area. Police are attempting to locate video surveillance in the area of the call and believe the individuals involved were looking to steal property from unlocked vehicles. Bridge Installation this Weekend

The bridge structure has finally arrived. The contractor is working to assemble the three spans (see photos) and will begin installation of the outside spans by the end of the week. Installation of the center span requires a full closure of Touhy Avenue, which will occur in 15 minute increments on the night of this Sunday, September 16 into Monday, September 17. The structure will be completely installed by Monday morning. The contractor will then begin working to pour the bridge deck and stairs, install the lighting, signage, and landscaping. Work is expected to be fully complete by the end of the month. Learn more.
