The Lincolnwood Police Department has implemented the following programs and services in response to the needs of our community.
B.A.S.S.E.T. is an education and training tool for servers and sellers of alcohol. Topics of discussion during the 8 hour class include the effects of alcohol, the blood alcohol content (BAC) system, Driving Under the Influence (DUI), responsible serving of alcohol, checking of ID's, alcoholism, village ordinances, and refusing or discontinuing liquor service. The B.A.S.S.E.T. program is overseen by the Illinois Liquor Control Commission. Social Services
Senior services officers work in conjunction with a social worker to assist in providing services to senior citizens requiring assistance above and beyond the resources available to the Police Department. A few of these services include:
Home Care Assistance Counseling for families who need to make decisions regarding care for a loved one. Coordination of nursing or other supportive care for a family member(s).

PENS Police E-mail Notification System
The program, called PENS (Police Email Notification System), utilizes the power of the Internet to establish a line of communication between the Police Department and the community so that vital information can be promptly disseminated between the two. Security Surveys - Home / Condo / Businesses
Officers will inspect your home/condo/business and provide recommendations on how to improve building/residential security to protect you from various crimes, i.e., burglary, robbery, theft.
Neighborhood Watch
The Crime Prevention unit will assist in organizing a neighborhood watch group, by providing training and information on how to recognize and report suspicious activity in their neighborhood. Working together, neighbors can help reduce residential crime.
Street Smarts Wherever you are - Crime can Strike!!
This presentation is designed to provide sure-fire ways to reduce the odds of becoming a victim.
Armed Robbery Presentations
Training is provided to bank tellers or store cashiers on "what to do and what NOT to do" if confronted by an armed robber. The program features training designed to safeguard the lives of both employees and customers.

Senior Services Unit
The Senior Services Unit offers several programs to assist elderly or disabled residents.
In addition to the Live Alone H.E.L.P. Program and Emergency ID Bracelet Program offered for seniors, our Senior Services Unit provides other valuable elderly services.Financial Law Enforcement and Government (F.L.A.G.) Program
F.L.A.G. is a partnership comprising members of financial institutions, law enforcement personnel and related government agencies committed to protect the elderly and persons with disabilities from financial exploitation.
Senior services officers provide information to bank personnel and senior citizens to heighten their awareness regarding financial exploitation. Seniors are informed of the various scams and con artist games used to defraud them of money. Bank personnel are trained in watching for, and reporting to the police, behaviors which may be associated with financial fraud.

Drug Abuse Resistance Education
The Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program is a 17 week program of instruction to introduce junior high school students to the dangers of drugs and alcohol. It seeks to teach children that popularity can be found in positive behavior, that belonging need not require them to abandon their values, and that self-confidence and self-worth come from asserting themselves and resisting destructive temptations. D.A.R.E. gives them the tools, both the "why" and the "how," to refuse drugs and alcohol. It is taught to sixth grade children with the support and cooperation of Lincolnwood School District 74.
Home Emergency Listing Program / Live Alone H.E.L.P.
The Lincolnwood Police Department initiated the Home Emergency Listing Program (H.E.L.P.) and the Live Alone Home Emergency Listing Program to enable residents to register information - person/s to notify in case of an emergency, keyholders, medical conditions or impairments - with the Police-Fire Communications Center. The Live Alone H.E.L.P. Program was designed for those persons who, because of their circumstances, do not have regular contact with family or friends. Participants in the Live Alone Program are in contact with the police on a daily basis to check on their well-being.
Emergency Identification Bracelet Program
Lincolnwood Citizens, 55 years or older, or individuals with a disability are encouraged to register for the Emergency Identification Bracelet Program. A form containing information, i.e., medical conditions, allergies, medications, etc., is kept on file at the Lincolnwood Police Department under an assigned confidential code number. The code number is located inside a Speidel bracelet, along with the 24-hour phone number for the Police Department. If the wearer is injured/incapacitated, the medical information on file is available to authorities through one phone call.
Vial of Life
The Lincolnwood Police Department has available for distribution, the "Vial of Life" packets prepared and administered by the Cook County Sheriff's Department. The packets include forms which are completed by the resident. Information regarding emergency contacts, medical history and medications taken is recorded on the forms. The vial is then placed in the refrigerator. Stickers (provided in the packet) are placed on the refrigerator and on the resident's front door. The stickers alert emergency services personnel where to locate valuable personal/medical information.
