Department Overview

The Department of Public Works consists of 28 full time, one part-time, and 10 seasonal staff. The Department is organized into five divisions:
  • Administration
    Coordinates department operations, budgeting, equipment replacement, resident communication, capital projects, and employee safety programs.
  • Vehicle Maintenance
    Maintains 50 trucks and pieces of equipment, oversees fueling operations, services Police and Building Department vehicles.
  • Parks & Building Maintenance
    Maintains 13 parks in the Village, coordinates with the Parks & Recreation Department, maintains all Village facilities and the municipal pool.
  • Streets Maintenance
    Trims parkway trees, provides animal control, repairs 34 miles of Village streets, grades 11 miles of alleys, and trims bushes in the alleys.
  • Water & Sewer Maintenance
    Repairs and maintains the water system and combined sewer system in the Village, monitors water levels and pressure, and ensures compliance with EPA water quality regulations.
All of the divisions listed above contribute to the Department's Snow & Ice Control program to ensure clean and safe roadways for all Village residents, visitors and emergency vehicles during the winter season.
