Within Village Hall, the position of Community Development Director is a professional senior level management position reporting directly to the Village Administrator.  The Director provides an ongoing economic development, planning and community development perspective and advocacy to Village government.

The current Director, Timothy M. Clarke, AICP, brings to the Village over 25 years of experience in the fields of city planning, economic development and redevelopment.  In addition to being a certified city planner, the Director holds a real estate sales license, has held a real estate appraiser license and has completed all course work for a real estate brokers license.

In addition to staffing, coordinating, and implementing all the work programs and activities of the Economic Development Commission, the Community Development Director provides the following services:

  • Responds to calls and inquiries made from residents, businesses and prospective residents and businesses.

  • Prepares periodic reports, provides census material and develops marketing material regarding the community.

  • Provides staff support for subcommittees and various other committees and bodies such as the intergovernmental Joint Review Board and the citizens blue ribbon committee updating the comprehensive plan.

  • Provides periodic reports to the Village Administrator and Village Board on economic development and community development matters.

  • Represents the Village at various meetings such as the Economic Development  Committee of the Northwest Municipal Conference. 

  • Prepares and maintains a Space Available Inventory of Business Properties.
