ComEd has informed the Village that over the next three months, they will be performing tree trimming operations to remove branches and vines that interfere or have the potential to interfere with power lines. In some cases, tree removal may be required. If a tree is removed, the remaining stump is treated with a herbicide by a licensed applicator to prevent future regrowth. This work is intended to minimize the risk of safety hazards and power outages by removing branches and trees that interfere with power lines. Work is generally being performed along the Valley Line Trail, between Jarvis and Pratt Avenues and in the alley between Keeler and Kedvale Avenues, north of Chase Avenue. A map of the affected area can be found here. Properties adjacent to where the work is being performed have been mailed a notification postcard by ComEd. If you have questions about tree trimming, a power outage, or any other electrical issue, please call ComEd at 1-800-Edison-1 (1-800-334-7661).
