Sewer Rebate Programs
The Village offers programs to help residents that have experienced failures in their private sanitary lines or want help in making improvements to their property to offset the impact of stormwater events through flood control. The Sewer Line Repair and Private Sewer Rebate Programs have been established through the Public Works Department to help offset residents' expenses related to sewer-related improvements to their property.
Sewer Line Repair Rebate Program
If your house has experienced the failure of your private sanitary sewer line and a repair or replacement of the line is necessary, you may qualify for the Village's sewer line repair rebate program. If the collapse is on private property, which is outside of the Village right-of-way and is typically 33 feet back from the center of the street, the repair (all costs) is the responsibility of the property owner. For collapses determined to be in the Village right-of-way and that are directly caused by tree roots from a Village-owned tree, the repair and/or replacement may be eligible for a rebate of up to $2,000. Detailed eligibility requirements may be found within the application (PDF).
Private Flood Control Rebate Program
The Village has approved additional eligibility to the existing sewer rebate program effective May 1 to help residents make improvements to protect their property during major stormwater events. Covered projects for the program include overhead sewer conversions and installation of backwater check valves. The program will provide residents with a cost-match of 50% of the total project up to a maximum of $2,000 for the requesting resident. Program funds are limited and the Village will fulfill requests on a first-come-first-served basis. To apply for a rebate, residents must complete the application (PDF).
Private Drainage Rebate Program
The Village Board approved a Private Drainage Rebate program on April 21, 2020, to become effective May 1, 2020. The program offers a rebate from the Village for drainage improvements on private property that include, but are not limited to, installation of French Drains, Sump Pumps, Drywells, pop-up drains, and re-grading. Prior to submitting this application, a meeting must be scheduled with the Village Engineer to review the project so that a determination of the project's effectiveness can be measured. Each eligible homeowner is able to receive a rebate of up to 50% of the project cost, not to exceed $2,000. In the event multiple homeowners collaborate on a shared drainage project, each homeowner will be eligible for a rebate of 50% not to exceed $2,500 of their portion of the overall project cost. Each shared drainage project is capped at $10,000 in total reimbursements. Program funds are limited and the Village will fulfill requests on a first-come-first-served basis. To review the program or to apply for a rebate, residents must complete the application (PDF).
