The Lincolnwood Police Department is excited to announce the return of the Citizen Police Academy. The Citizen Police Academy is a free nine-week program for those interested in learning about standard police officer training, the typical experience of an officer, and expectations for officers when responding to incidents. The Academy will offer a hands-on experience and practical insight into the everyday operations and specialized services provided by the Department. Topics participants will learn more about each week include investigations, domestic violence, crime scene processing, crime prevention, and much more.
Lieutenant Travis Raypole stated, “This is a great experience for the Academy members and all of the Officers involved. Everyone comes away with a better understanding of how policing is performed and how it is perceived in the public. This is mutually beneficial to all involved.”
The Academy will begin April 1, 2020, running for eight weeks on Wednesdays from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. in the Police/Fire Training Room at the Fire Department 6900 N Lincoln Avenue, Lincolnwood, IL 60712. The final class will culminate in a Citizen Police Academy graduation where participants will be able to invite their family to celebrate their achievement.
Interested participants must be at least 18 years of age and work or live within the Village of Lincolnwood. Class size is limited to 25 students, so interested participants are encouraged to register early. For more information on this program, please e-mail Lieutenant Raypole at email@example.com.
