Tennis Courts Update

Proesel Park Tennis Courts to Re-Open May 29

The Village of Lincolnwood Parks and Recreation Department will open tennis courts for public use on Friday, May 29. Though tennis is a great way to spend time outdoors, it is also important to maintain social distancing.

Listed below the rules and recommendations of play:

Before Play

Self-Check

How do you feel?
If you are experiencing any illness symptoms including fever, cough, or shortness of breath, do not enter the area and do not participate in play.

Cleaning

Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water. It is required that you sanitize the handle of your racket and any other equipment you will use to play.

Considerations

Consider taking extra precautions such as wearing gloves, and using new balls and grips for each play.

During Play

Social Distancing

Players should maintain 6 feet social distancing at all times. Refrain from any physical contact such as handshakes and high fives.

Single and Double Play
Single and double play is permitted. No one else may be on the courts other than active players.

Play Limitation
Be respectful of those who are waiting to play. Each play will turn over at the top of the hour. If no one is waiting, play may continue.

Entering and Exiting
Gates to the courts will be secured in an open position to reduce frequent touch areas. If you are a player waiting, please wait outside the gate or in your car. Do not enter the court until the previous party has left the court.

Avoid All Shared Touch-Points
Refrain from handling the nets or any other objects on the court. You should only handle your personal equipment.

Use Two Cans of Balls
Each player should bring their own uniquely marked balls. Use only your marked ball and only handle your ball while serving. When returning an opponent’s ball, kick the ball or use a racket.

Bathrooms and Water Fountains
At this time, bathrooms and water fountains will remain closed. Bring your own personal water bottle.

Bring your Own Hand Sanitizer
It is recommended that you bring your hand sanitizer and use frequently during play especially after you touch your face, nose or mouth. The Village of Lincolnwood will not provide cleaning supplies.

Lincolnwood Parks and Recreation Department programs have priority, followed by Tennis Club Member reservations. Tennis Club Member reservation includes:
-Schedule posted on the tennis information board
-Reservation holders must arrive within 15 minutes of the start of the booked time block

Tennis Only
Tennis courts are reserved for tennis only. Pets, bikes, skateboards and inline skating are not permitted.

Personal Items

Proper Attire
All players should wear non-marking shoes (no black soles) and shirts.

Face Masks
Face masks must be worn in accordance with the State Executive Order when social distancing cannot be maintained before and after play. Face masks are not required during play.

After Play

Leave the court as soon as reasonably possible.

Wash your hands thoroughly for 20 seconds or use a hand sanitizer after coming off the court.

No extra-curricular or social activity should take place. No congregation after playing.
