SUMMER 2020 CAMP STATUS
Lincolnwood Summer Day Camp is closed for 2020.
On May 19, 2020 the Village Board reviewed alternative operational plans for summer day camp that were necessary to comply with safety guidelines, group gathering limitations, and physical distancing rules. Plans included a camp that would open when Illinois reached Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois plan with small groups, distancing and face covering requirements, distanced activities, and limited shared supplies.
Through discussion, concerns were shared regarding the ability to ensure the safety and health of campers, the challenges associated with operating a camp program as much continues to be unknown about COVID-19, as well the challenges and impact of operating within gathering size and social distancing guidelines. After an in-depth conversation, the consensus was to cancel the Lincolnwood Summer Day Camp program this summer due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Village understands that a summer without Lincolnwood Summer Day Camp will be very different. Facilitating a fun-filled summer alongside the many community members who join our team as summer employees is the highlight of each year for the Village’s Parks and Recreation Department. Our team will strive to provide ways for the community to connect in a safe manner, given guidelines available through the IDPH and Restore Illinois Plan.
The Village also understands there is both a desire and need for recreational programs and activities this summer. Virtual programming options began during the first week of June, Park in a Bag activity packets are available for at-home recreation, and a variety of small group programs for youth and adults will begin later this month.
Although we are unable to physically gather as a community right now, we look forward to connecting with you in new and creative ways throughout the summer and beyond. Our team will strive to provide ways for the community to connect in a safe manner, given guidelines available through the IDPH and Restore Illinois Plan. Stay tuned to the Village’s social media pages and websites for updates on recreational programs, events, and facilities.
The Village’s Parks and Recreation Department is anxious to fully serve our community’s recreational needs and pursuits once again.
