The Lincolnwood Police Department invites all residents to attend “NATIONAL NIGHT OUT” – America’s Night Out Against Crime
National Night Out happens once a year throughout the country. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer and create a more caring place to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances. This year, National Night Out celebrates its 36th Anniversary nationally, and this is the 2nd Annual National Night Out in Lincolnwood.
Neighbors throughout our village and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on their front porch lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and law enforcement. Along with the traditional outside lights and front porch vigils, most communities celebrate National Night Out by hosting block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and other various community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and more. National Project Coordinator, Matt Peskin said, “This is a night for our nation to stand together and promote awareness, safety, and neighborhood unity. National Night Out showcases the vital importance of police-community partnerships and citizen involvement. When law enforcement and the community work closely together, some amazing things can happen.”
The Lincolnwood Police Department will be hosting a National Night Out get together at the Proesel Park Pavilion located at 6915 Kostner Ave (corner of Kostner and Morse), from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Please join your neighbors and Chief Jay Parrott, Deputy Chief Schenita Stewart and other police officers, fire personnel and Village employees serving the community with some light refreshments and casual conversation in support of a safe community for all. If you would like to volunteer or set up a booth at the event to promote your local business please email Lt. Raypole, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
