Proper mowing is essential to keeping your lawn healthy. Avoid cutting over one-third of the grass height at a time, as removing too much can stress the grass and weaken the root system.
If the grass grows to 8 inches long, raise the mower deck and trim 2 inches off during a cooler part of the day. Then, wait a few days to remove a little bit more. Repeat until the grass is at the height you desire.
Keeping mower blades sharp ensures clean cuts, which reduces the risk of disease. Ideally, grass should be maintained at a height of 3–4 inches to promote deeper roots, better moisture retention, and improved resistance to weeds and pests.
