Smart911 Emergency Notification System
Register for the New Village of Lincolnwood Smart911 Emergency Notification System
In 2017, when the Village of Lincolnwood consolidated dispatch services with the Village of Skokie as required by law, Lincolnwood no longer served as dispatch center for police and fire. As a result all 911 calls are routed to the Skokie Emergency Communications Center and non-emergency calls made to Lincolnwood Police at (847) 673-2167 are routed to Skokie Monday thru Friday between the hours of 5pm and 7am, Saturdays, Sunday’s and designated holidays. The Lincolnwood Police Records Unit answers all non-emergency calls Monday thru Friday from 7am to 5pm.
Smart911 technology is now available to residents in Lincolnwood and is available in most communities in the Chicago area including the City of Chicago. It allows the ability for people to register their personal information including their cell phone number, so when 911 is called, dispatchers have all the necessary information in case of the inability to communicate this information to the call taker. With Smart911, residents and business owners will be able to provide 9-1-1 dispatchers and first responders the critical information you want them to know in any kind of emergency.
When you call 9-1-1, your Smart911 Safety Profile displays on the 9-1-1 screen and dispatchers will be able to view your addresses, medical information, home information, description of pets and vehicles, and emergency contacts. You can provide as much or as little information as you like.
Smart911 is a national service meaning your Smart911 Safety Profile travels with you and is visible to any participating 9-1-1 center nationwide.
Lincolnwood residents also have the ability to sign up for Emergency Alerts through a system used by the Village of Lincolnwood called Blackboard Connect. This system allows for alerts to be sent via text messaging, email or robo-calling, also known as reverse 911. This alert system is useful for snow emergencies, boil orders, weather alerts, flooding and other emergency situations.
The Smart911 system will be used to identify vital information during emergency situations while also sending emergency alerts regarding weather and other public safety incidents such as evacuation orders, water boil orders, severe weather alerts, etc. This includes notifications when alternate-side parking regulations are in effect after a heavy snowfall.
